Relaxation for Kids
Have you ever noticed how often adults tell children to calm down, relax, be still, or focus? But when do we teach children how to do these things? Relaxation is a skill like reading, math or basketball. Through instruction, understanding and practice, students can learn to be calmer and more focused.
Louise Goldberg, the founder of Relaxation Now, has more than 16 years experience with the Broward County School System working with both students and teachers in relaxation tecniques. She has conducted in-service training for faculty and has been part of the therapeutic team at Broward County center for the severly emotionally disturbed children, grades K-12. In 2001, Louise began working with a group to develop a pilot relaxation program for children with autism at a local elementary school. She has brought that program to many other schools and teaches in-service trainings to implement the techniques. Her video Creative Relaxation sm is a useful tool for teachers and parents who want to include yoga practice in the classroom or home. Most recently, Louise and a team of autism specialists have co-authored Stop and Relax, a visual and experiential kit used in many Broward schools for teaching yoga-based exercises and relaxation techniques.
Relaxation Now is the relaxation therapy program of Louise Goldberg, a licensed massage therapist and certified Yoga instructor practicing for over a two decades in South Florida. Ms. Goldberg has her Master of Arts degree in Education and a decade of teaching in public schools.
